Father and Son

November 7th, 2007 by wahyudiou

Father_son Have you ever heard a song sang by Cat Steven (Yusuf Islam) or lately Ronan Keating also sings it together with Yusuf in his 10 Years of Hits. The title is "Father and Son", when we should treat our parents in a good manner, there is one distinct position of mom and dad in a family.

Mother usually the closest figure for her kids, then sometime we ignore the role of father who also an important figure in our life and journey. Father and Son tells a story of a father who encourage his son to have a positive view of this journey. As a young good man, our mind might be focus too much about how to be successful, career and money.

Yet, a good father who already experienced quite similar story will eventually asks his son to relax and reminds that there is so much the son should learn, interestingly a father will also asks his son to find a girl and settle down. Hmm, so wise, hope you ever have a chance to listen to this so meaningful song, so inspiring, love you dad.

Love and Religion

November 5th, 2007 by wahyudiou

704jay1 Let’s investigate some messages from various kinds of religions. Love has similar value within these different beliefs as quoted from Marcic 1997.

Judaism (14th century B.C): What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor; that is the entire Torah; the rest is commentary; learn it- Babylonian Talmud, Shabbat 31a-

Hinduism (13th century B.C): Do not to others what you do not wish done to yourself. This is the whole Dharma- The Mahabharata-

Buddhism (6th century B.C): Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful- Udanavarga 5:18-

Confucianism (6th century B.C): Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself- Confucius, The Analects, 15:23-

Cristianity (1st century A.D): Do unto others as you would have them do unto you- Jesus Christ, The Bible, Luke 6:13-

Islam (7th century A.D): No one of you is believer until you desire for another that which you desire for yourself- The Sunnah (from the Hadith)-

Sikhism (15th century A.D): Be not estranged from another for, in every heart, Pervades the lord- Sri Guru Granth Sahib-

Hence, love for others is highly recommended by most major religions in the world. Then why hate each other???

Color of Love

November 3rd, 2007 by wahyudiou

Agar Another love theory which is very interesting to know is the love style theory or John Alan Lee’s color of love. He suggests that love has six styles according to their relative color attach to it.

1. Eros or Red: Is passionate love or desire to be focused on particular person.

2. Ludus or Yellow: This is a game playing love, people with this style will play with feelings of affection and attraction.

3. Storge or Blue: Long term commitment and qualities, yet not always exciting.

4. Pragma or Green: Seeking for certain conditions or objectives which are essential.

5. Mania or Orange: A mixture of passion, emotion and obsession.

6. Agape or Purple: Oriented toward giving not merely getting, a mature love.

Again, i want to ask my self and you guys, which type of lover are we?

Neither Here nor Elsewhere

November 2nd, 2007 by wahyudiou

PoeChatnoir_1m has been used for many centuries as a self reflection toward happiness, sadness, Romanticism or criticism. From Western greatest artist such as Shakespeare up to Eastern most meaningful writer Jalalludin Ar-Rumi. Here you are i try to write a poem, this is a result of my loneliness after someone has just gone back, do not know when we can meet again.

"Cloudy sky today depicts my feeling"

"Flocks of birds are lazy to fly"

"I myself trap in a silence"

"Freezing and chilling had pass"

"However my heart is still unchanged"

"My dream, my emotion, my longing"

"Sky suddenly changes it colors"

"From blue sea into dark land"

"Neither here nor elsewhere"

"I straight myself to be sensitive"

"Cloudy sky could you go away for a while"

"Noisy around me but i feel the opposite"

Friends

November 1st, 2007 by wahyudiou

Do you have many friends or few? well it does not matter, the most important thing is that we start realize that friends are more valuable than pearl or gold.

Friends could be even become closer person than our siblings it self. with friends we can tell story that we could not tell brothers or family. Just reminder, we should not only be their friends when they are happy or wealthy, good and true friends always be side by side even when we broke and poor.

Friendmonkey6One secret to have many friends is simple. treat others like you want to be treated is the key, do not tell our friends bad habits to others, do not forget your old friends when you have the new one, just accept them as the way they are dude.

Because thousand friends never enough,,,,,,,friendship is sacred.

Try smarter not just Harder

November 1st, 2007 by wahyudiou

Hard work is the key to be successful, however often we keep complaining because when we force our self to work harder than usual, then obviously we fell bored and tired. Well, often the result of hard work is not really as good as people who work less harder but smarter.

The picture depicts this situation, it is fun to work hard, and this wQuick_easy_smarter20not20harder_1ill be even more interesting if we can do it the smarter way. It is not the same with finding shortcut of one problem, instead we find the most effective way in doing something and achieving result.

Therefore, why try to do thing the hard way only,,,it is not to say that if you are a student at the moment, not attending class is good, because often the teacher can not make the class more interesting. Be smarter student means try to study in the effective way, for instance by doing study group, because there are many things we can get from others.

Let’s Cry

October 24th, 2007 by wahyudiou

200557214718cryonesheartout No woman no cry, no woman no cry,,,hmm sound so perfectionist. Crying is taboo for most of people, because it leads to show our emotion instability. Especially for man, hmm when the last time i cried??

One research was conducted by Li Jin a psychologist from China, he claims that one of a very effective way to reduce stress is by crying indeed. If you ever see Japanese cartoon movie namely Doraemon one the character called Nobita often cry very badly but then smile widely after word. Its just an alternative, but let’s see the benefits of cry.

1. Reduce stress and pressure

2. Throw away all negativism, such as anger and disappointment

3. Reduce dangerous chemical substance

4. Re-fresh mind

Avoid stress by crying? why not,,,hiks hiks hiks. Just remember not to cry in every occasion though.

Finding Majapahit

October 24th, 2007 by wahyudiou

Untitled_2 In relation to some latest news about Majapahit updates by some Indonesian media lately. I just want to share something about this one mighty empire. As i remember Majapahit experiences a gold era when Nusantara still free from imperialism and war among kingdoms.

If only, all the best archaeologist can find Majapahit sites again and rebuild the building just for remembrance and lesson for young generation, that in order to succeed, a country should has self-awareness and resilience. Majapahit had Mahapatih Gadjah Mada as one of it leader who has a clear defined vision about future.

I wish this cultural and historical heritage will enrich our knowledge as well about the importance of national integration, there is an interdependence relationship among us, we should not separate our self from the circle, why not we think about future, build another Majapahit might be far from easy, but we have the spirits.

Mask

October 23rd, 2007 by wahyudiou

Untitled_1 In daily interaction with people, i notice some incredible multi faces character, some of them argues that they want to act as smiling face person, hence everywhere they go, no wonder there will be a nice smile at their face.

Some who is really serious about life, or might be just pretending to be serious, accordingly considering a high tension mimics face. Well, your external expression can be used to predict your internal feeling situation, of course we can tell a lie, yet we can not lie to our self indeed.

As suggested by many emotional intelligent experts, personal resilience is important in order to balance emotion, some ways to manage emotion is by establishing goals, proactive in social interaction, open minded and develop positive self-talk. It’s time to let others see the true color of our face, just do not be afraid.
